Tea & Crumpets #4 | Life Isn’t Lived On Paper
After 7 and a half years of building, this week, I’ve officially let go of my role as Co-Founder and Director at Self Space.
There is, like with any ending, a long story and a shorter one. This is the shorter one…
On paper, life was going class. Great brand, meaningful work, incredible growth:
we opened the world’s first on-demand mental health service on the high street
grew from 4 therapists to 140
delivered 120,000+ sessions
opened 4 more sites
raised a couple of million quid to support the expansion
supported some of the world’s best companies
it was home to my writing, tone of voice and creativity
And for someone born into a family that had less than 0 when it came to monies, the financial security that it offered was huge for me. I’ve never had that. My ego was buzzin’: successful, impressive, safe, celebrated. Things were going well and I was doing all the right stuff.
But, life isn’t lived on paper.
