Now, not everyone who dies by suicide is depressed, but a lot of people who experience depression feel suicidal at some point.

And it was World Suicide Prevention Day on Wed, and I saw 0 posts about depression.

Maybe because it’s so hard to put words to.

Maybe because it isn’t a very connecting thing to talk about, and as an experience, it is the absolute opposite actually — it’s really isolating. And often something we only understand when we’ve come out the other side.

As for suicide prevention, the emphasis is so often on crisis. We offer helplines, but don’t talk about what leads us there and what it means to feel less alone.

So, that’s what I’m writing about today. Not so much about suicide prevention or offering answers, more about loving each other relentlessly, finding the words for things, and being in each other’s lives.
